Sydney artist TIMI TEMPLE has just served up his latest musical dish, and it’s delicious. Yuck My Yum is a track that sounds upbeat on the surface but gets darker when you wade into TIMI’s lyrics - something he’s always enjoyed in music. I can’t get enough of the guitar tone on Yuck My Yum, and I think that’s part of what makes TIMI’s music so infectiously exciting. It’s hard not to be charmed by TIMI TEMPLE’s music, so let your inhibitions go and drift away with the music.

Listening to Yuck My Yum, you’ll find yourself nodding along to the track’s pulsating drumbeat. Everything seems to stem from this beat, and while the track’s guitar flourishes and thumping bassline add to the track’s magic, my ear always comes back to the marriage of TIMI’s vocals and the drums. It’s easy to stack a song full of layers to try and impress a listener, but every part of this track is crystal-clear - and they’ve all received a lot of love. Plus, it’s got my dog’s seal of approval - she’s currently staring at me, ears raised while I listen to Yuck My Yum.

Speaking about the track, Timi says it’s the result of a high school love turned sour. We've all been there; your high school lover, the one you saw yourself with forever, and they tell you they're bored and looking for someone new. The analogy of Yuck My Yum actually came from a conversation with a past partner where she joked 'don't stink my kink’ after our talk about desires, and well, I couldn't write a song with that title, haha. Sonically I've always been fascinated by songs that sound happy and head boppy but lyrically are rather dark and intense - so this is my take on it.”

Check out Yuck My Yum below. TIMI TEMPLE is a name that instantly springs to mind when you ask me to think of artists that are primed for a huge 2021. He’s putting in the hard yards in the Australian live scene as well, and it feels like a tipping point is approaching for TIMI. Personally, I hope he makes his way down to Melbourne at some point very soon for a show - I’d love to see this played live!
