Perth musician Rosarrie has teamed up with producer Winter Foe for Fields, and it’s the soothing slice of electronic music you need in your life right now. Rosarrie’s vocals blend with Winter Foe’s production, and it really feels like you’re in a coming-of-age film when you’re listening to this track. No matter where you are in life - coming into a hard decision, or moving away from one - you’ll find the softly-spoken Fields to be an uplifting moment of strength in your life. Isn’t that something we all need every now and then?
Rosarrie’s vocals sound perfect over the acoustic guitar-driven production that Winter Foe has put together. There’s just the right balance of analogue and digital sounds, and it’s clear that the pair’s musical styles really suit each other. The pair have actually put together a visualiser for the track where they’re replicating the feeling of staring out a car window, which to me seems one of the best ways to listen to this track (other than what I’m currently doing, which is writing while curled up under a blanket).
Speaking about the track, Rosarrie says it’s a track about staying strong. “Fields was a collaborative effort, co-written and produced by my friend Winter Foe. He initially came to me with the idea for the song and we both built it to be this soft, acoustic-sounding tune about staying strong through change. He made the wonderful cover art for it too. The song’s really important to me because it talks about a lot of things that I'm currently having to face and grow from. It felt kind of like a journal entry to write about, and was very therapeutic!” Listening to the track, it feels like you’re talking to a close friend. It’s an inclusive track, rather than exclusive. It truly feels like a warm embrace.
