Melbourne rapper MzUki has just dropped her swaggering new single On A Wave, and it features on her debut EP Power Moves. Born of a random encounter between MzUki and UK producer Himalia, the EP blends trap, neo-soul and R&B sounds in a way that captures the signature elements of each genre. You’ll feel excited when the trap beats drop, get a bit emotional when MzUki’s soulful vocals hit right, and embrace the smoothness of the R&B influences throughout.

On A Wave is the centerpiece of the EP, and it captures the confidence and energy that MzUki exudes. She’s on her Queen shit, and no-one’s going to hold her down. Throughout the EP she’s both upbeat and laidback, but it’s on On A Wave where she truly stamps her authority. She’s not going to let anyone mess up her rise to the top. If you’re sitting on her throne, she’s going to get you turfed.

Speaking about working with Himalia, MzUki says it was a meeting meant to happen. “The Power Moves EP was birthed out of a chance encounter between UK producer Himalia and me. We met in the summer of 2018 and began working on tracks together. "MzUki" meaning miss moon and "Himalia" meaning Jupiter moon it felt like a divinely guided encounter that was just meant to happen.” From there, the pair worked together to create this EP, including embracing the power of tarot reading. MzUki is gearing up to make some serious Power Moves in the near future.
