Melbourne’s southeastern suburbs might just be THE place to keep your eye on if you’re a fan of hip-hop coming out of Australia, and it’s thanks to the hustle of artists like Clariyah Bo$$, who has been mentored and managed by industry heavyweight Bennett Ferguson, owner and founder of Marshall Street Studios.

Fresh off the release of her single Green Hunnids, she’s back with her latest track BVNTA, and if you’re in her way, it’s best you watch your back. BVNTA is a 2 minute shot of pure adrenaline, and it’s hooked straight to your ears. Clariyah spits over a drill-laced beat made by Sydney producer Utility, and doesn’t take a backward step. She knows she’s got the skills, and BVNTA is a straight flex. This street anthem was recorded at one of the homes of hip-hop in Melbourne, Marshall Street Studios, by the aforementioned Bennett Ferguson.

Speaking about the track, Clariyah says, "BVNTA is the savage/sassy side of me. It's basically saying don't act brand new. I've been that person. I've been in that position before, it's nothing new to me..." She’s not in the rap game to make friends, as she points out - she’s here to rise to the top.

We’ve seen a lot of Polynesian/Australian rappers emerging recently, such as ONEFOUR, Hp Boyz, Youngn Lipz and more, and Clariyah Bo$$ is proof that it’s not just male rappers having all the fun. The sounds associated with hip-hop in Australia are changing, and Clariyah is already matching it with the best of the best.

Australian media by and large isn’t covering the growth of the new wave of rappers - or at least, hasn’t caught on yet. Clariyah is leveraging her social media to continue to promote her music, and it’s working like a dream.

She’s got a YouTube audience of 200k+, 20k Instagram followers and equally as impressive numbers on other platforms. Rappers today don’t just have to be able to spit, but they also have to know how to use social media to build their image, and every rapper in Australia could learn a thing or two from the work she’s putting into growing her brand. She’s got the skills, and she’s got the fans waiting for her next move.

Check out BVNTA below. Hip-hop in Australia is currently seeing a new generation of talent showing up those who have come before them, and artists like Clariyah don’t plan on holding back. They know what they want, and they’re gonna go get it by any means necessary.
