Melbourne pop duo ultrafine have just dropped their debut single, SIGNS, and it’s the grooviest thing you’re going to hear all week. It’s a track with a strong disco-pop influence and a huge hook. Made up of Manali Datar (who’s currently playing Rose-Granger Weasley in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in Melbourne) and Trevor Adelson, there is a serious groove going on with this track. I’ve got a good feeling about ultrafine - they’re destined for big things. This song is pop music at its most bouncy and fun, and you’ll find yourself addicted to the bassline of this track.

I don’t usually mention this, but I received an email from ultrafine about this track, and it struck me how confident they were about this release. I’m always curious when a band is willing to put themselves out there from their first release, but then I listened to the track and it all made sense. It’s no surprise that the pair have some serious chemistry, given they’re dating as well as making music together, and you’ll be able to hear that chemistry in every note of SIGNS. Every part of the track comes from collaboration, which means they’re always bringing the best of both worlds.. What’s not to love?

Speaking about the track, the band says it’s a track about meeting the person you know is about to change things for you - and the excitement that comes with that. We wanted to write a song about the excitement of meeting someone you know is about to change your life. I mean, we juuuust happened to find each other at a gig, happened to fall in love and then happened to make music together... We think that's pretty special, and we wanted to immortalise that glittery feeling of anticipation/hesitation/anticipation, you know? Almost a year and a half down the line, we're still telling each other "u fine" on the reg, and making the best music we've ever made together. We just love exploring music and genre and being curious about life and communicating our experiences while giving ourselves and everyone around us a good excuse to get up and groove."

Check out SIGNS below. It’s a track that’s ready for the big time, and you’ll want to keep them on your radar. If you’re sick of drinking energy drinks (which, really, they’re not good for you), then this track will replace the caffeine kick you need every day. It’s that groovy. Need to start a dancefloor in your sharehouse? Put this track on. Looking to dance at work? Your boss won’t be able to resist a boogie to this track. Ultrafine seem to have found the secret too great, innovative pop from their very first track, and the sky truly is the limit. I’m feeling the SIGNS - are you?
