How do you fix the Australian blog economy? It’s a question I’ve been mulling over recently, and talking about with people. I wish I had a better answer. When I started writing about music, almost a decade ago, blogs were coming out of their golden age. Want a bit of a reality check? Google lists of Australian music blogs that were written a few years ago. Almost all of them have shut down.

I’ve toyed with starting a Patreon for my blog, having a donation link (which I think I’ll implement at some point) and a variety of other ideas. At the end of the day, it’s a losing battle, for now anyway. This is something I’m always interested in chatting about, so if you want to talk, let’s chat. In time, I’ll be (hopefully) in more of a position to make positive changes in this space, but I think for now, some sort of subscription for your favourite writers is a great place to start. I don’t think plastering ads on blogs is the way to go - it’s something I’m trying to avoid, anyway.

On a more positive note, this weekend my girlfriend and I took our 11-month old Golden Retriever, Peaches, to go see her siblings at the beach. I’ve never seen more goldens in the one space. It was absolutely amazing. Of course, Peaches was the most impressive and well-behaved of the lot, but the rest were almost as perfect!

Check out what I’ve written about in the last couple of weeks below, and follow the playlist if you’re interested in keeping up to date with all the tunes! I promise it’ll be worth it.
