South Australian pop artist Myrrhe has just released Locked, a song that looks at what happens when a relationship turns toxic. The song will get stuck in your head, as well as force you to look at your views on relationships, which is a hard task for a pop song to achieve. Each listen evokes a different emotion, meaning you’ll want to include this one in your playlists.

Produced by Adelaide-based Jethro, the track showcases Myrrhe’s vocal range, as well as her ability to write an infectious hook. Her vocals, as well as the track’s production, take the topic of a toxic relationship and present it in a way that is easily digestible. It’s a song that will spark some important conversations, but also is set to be on repeat - a balance that many artists struggle to find.

Speaking about the track, Myrrhe says it was inspired by the idea of a relationship that went south. “The inspiration behind Locked is a toxic relationship. Basically, the guy featured in the song had been emotionally abusing her, projecting his insecurities on her to the point when something went wrong she would feel like it’s her fault.”

Check out Locked below. I’m excited for more music from Myrrhe, because this track shows her potential and the ideas that will be present in her music in the future. Relationships, and what happens when they no longer are healthy is a topic that needs to be discussed more in popular culture, and I really enjoyed Myrrhe’s lyrics in this song. Here’s to more music coming soon!
