Perth musician Kyle Charles Hall's new track 'colours' sees him explores just how much his view of the world has recently changed. He isn’t afraid to admit that he’s still learning, and aren’t we all? It’s a track that combines guitar riffs that will conjure images of a musician absolutely shredding, while his vocals feel like they’re meant to be heard during a festival sing-along. It’s a track that feels destined for bigger things, and you’ll want to chuck this on the biggest sound system you have access to, wherever that may be. This one needs to be turned up LOUD.

Speaking about the song, Kyle says it’s about being authentic - rather than trying to score points. “Colours was written at a time in my life when I had finally realised there was a world beyond my doorstep. It kinda takes the mickey out of being progressive for the sake of achieving some sort of moral high ground amongst your peers. I believe it’s important to want to have a voice and use the platform you have, however, I believe it’s always far more powerful when it comes from an authentic place. I realised it was important to not take myself too seriously and continue trying to be the best version of myself I could.”

It’s an interesting topic, and something I think about a fair bit as well. I think it’s important to always approach things with a sense of authenticity and sincerity, even if that involves going outside of your comfort zone. Truly progressive movements have to originate from a place of genuine desire for change, not a way of putting on a front for those around you. If you feel like your worldview isn’t as developed as you’d like it to be, then lean on your friends and family for advice. You’d be amazed at some of the wisdom people have to impart - after all, we’re going through these things together.

Check out colours below. Kyle’s influences, like The 1975, MGMT and Tame Impala, all have a serious knack for songwriting that is both insightful and catchy, and that’s exactly what colours sounds like to me. It’s a track that will soundtrack many a summer road trip, and if you’re down at the beach, having the time of your life, listening to this on the way back home will cap off the day. The track is the lead single off his upcoming EP, angel choir, which is out February 1st. You can pre-save that EP here. I’m excited to see how Kyle changes up his sounds on the EP, because he’s clearly got buckets full of talent.
