Melbourne-based artist Elle Eliades has just released her debut single, Running, and it’s a first impression drenched in emotion. Straight from the jump, Elle hits all the right notes, and the slow-moving jam will worm its way into your brain. You’ll feel yourself swaying like you’re in the midst of a cool breeze, and each note packs a walloping punch.

Elle’s spent the last few years covering other artists’ music, but it’s on her first original track that her artistry is truly allowed to shine through. She’s taken influence from R&B and soul artists, both in Melbourne and beyond, and her vocal range is something to behold. If you’re feeling like you’re holding yourself back from something, then Running is a great reminder to go and chase your dreams. After all, we’ve been stifled for so long in 2020 - why make the same mistake in 2021?

Speaking about the song, Elle says she’s done Running. “The story behind this song is summed up in my favourite lyric: “Usain Bolt can’t run as fast but somehow you still finish last”. As a young girl, I found myself constantly not performing to my potential due to letting self-doubt and nerves get the better of me.

“After spending the time to work on myself I was able to overcome this to pursue my passion for music. It’s so sad that too many people never live up to their potential due to self-doubt and through this song, I hope to inspire others to ‘stop running’ from their fears like I eventually did.” It’s time to stop running away, and start chasing down your dreams. It’s something that I’ve tried to do more than ever in 2020, despite the challenges that have been put in front of me. I hope everyone reading this does the same.

Check out Running below. It’s a great first example of the type of music that Elle wants to make, and I’ll be keeping a close eye on what she releases next. Her ear for production is matched by her vocal ability, and she’s able to convey her emotions through every note and lyric. This one’ll hit you where it hurts, in all the best ways.
