Sydney five-piece DROVES have just released their new single, Trash, and it smashes together post-punk and dance music for a gloriously gritty track. It’s a track about pushing back against imposter syndrome, and embracing your true self, whatever that might be. I can hear the Foals influence in the track, particularly in vocalist Phillip Spiteri’s vocals, and it’s a song that’ll get you revved up. It’s a true call-to-arms.

One of the things that I enjoy most about DROVES is that they sound like they’re having a hell of a time playing the track. Each aspect of the track bounces off each other, and the song lives and breathes as a whole, rather than being simply the sum of its parts. Your ear will jump from instrument to instrument, bringing you back in for repeat listens. Turn this one up to the max - just make sure your speakers can handle it. This one will give them a workout.

Speaking about the track, the band says that Trash is the song they’ve been building towards. “Trash is the song that we've always wanted to write - a post-punk incantation about being your true self while being completely unapologetic about it. We wrote the song with the intention to hold suspense through the verse with a punk start that would break into a dance chorus and give the impression that this is a celebration."

Check out Trash below. If you’re looking for a song that’ll push you that little bit further, then this is just the ticket. The track is the second single from their upcoming EP, which promises to be as messy as it is fun. This is the type of music you want to throw on when your night out is reaching its apex, and the world seems to be at ease, even just for a moment. DROVES want you to be the best version of yourself, so make sure you go out there and seize the day.
