Sydney-born, Melbourne-based singer/songwriter Ayesha A. Madon loves pop music, and she’s just dropped her debut single Outside Of The Party. What a way to introduce yourself to the world as a solo artist. It’s a song that flexes her vocals, while showing off her fun, not-so-serious personality. The production is understated, allowing Ayesha to carry the song. She pulls it off with absolute style.

The song kicks off with her laughing, saying, “I wanna do one of those intro-y things. Like Jason Derulo, but Ayesha. Hello, I’m Ayesha, this is my song.” From that point, she absolutely owns the song. She doesn’t want to go to a party that isn’t buzzing. People are making some absolutely terrible small talk, and Ayesha has had enough of it. She’s looking for the exits, and she doesn’t want anyone to come after her.

Australians have a strange aversion to polished pop music, but that stigma is slowly fading. Outside Of The Party might be clean and polished, but it’s full of Ayesha’s personality. I could do Ayesha a disservice and compare her to a range of pop stars, but I honestly believe this song deserves to stand on its own. This is quality pop music with an R&B flair. What’s not to love?

Speaking about the track, Ayesha says, “I’ve created this weird facade of being a super outgoing and talkative person, because it’s somewhat what’s required of you in the acting industry. I’ve built my whole life and job on that perception. However, what most people don’t know about me is that I have a lot of social anxiety and am actually a huge introvert. I always really just wanna be by myself writing, producing or making shit.

“I’ve really gotten used to my own space and time during this Pandemic and as things start to open up I felt I needed to reiterate through song that I only come to your events out of obligation. If I didn’t come to your zoom party, it wasn’t because I was sick.” It’s a sentiment a lot of us can agree with. Zoom parties aren’t all they cracked up to be.
