Melbourne pop producer/songwriter yergurl’s new single, until we meet again, feels designed to be enjoyed by the Internet generation - but don’t let that fool you. The song’s lo-fi aesthetic, and accompanying music video, showcase yergurl’s soaring vocals, as well as her ability to write a truly huge hook. Beyond the kitsch of the music video is an understanding of the type of music she wants to make - bedroom pop music that’ll make your heart yearn for another time.

In the YouTube caption for the video, yergurl writes “this is my best song yet 😈😈😈😈”, and that confidence really comes through on the track. Each note feels like it builds on the last, before crashing down on you in a wave of euphoria. If you’re a fan of PC Music (SOPHIE, Charli XCX), or more ‘traditional pop’ artists like The 1975 and Dua Lipa, then yergurl might just be your new favourite artist. She’s a festival headliner in the making.

Speaking about the track, yergurl says it’s the ending to a story that’s been told through her music - until the next chapter is written. ''Until we meet again is about breaking up with someone you still love. I wrote UWMA after a very amicable break-up and we were saying that we’d like to get together again if our life situations allow.

“My previous single Skateboard was written at the very start of the relationship when I thought it was gonna be a short-lived high school romance and UWMA is our break-up song. His face features in the music video, just like how he actually featured in the Skateboard video so it brings our story full circle. So I see UWMA as the ending of the Skateboard story.... for now.”

Yergurl’s been through a trying time, but she’s approaching the next chapter in her life with an open mind and an open heart. Heading into 2021, that’s the energy we all need.
