Canberra trio Peach Lane have just released their latest single Rolling, and it’ll get you feeling woozy. Some of the song’s sounds were designed to capture that feeling of feeling intoxicated, and it’s a great representation of the journey of a night out. Given the events of 2020, big nights out haven’t been as common as they might otherwise have been - but this song is a great reminder of the ups and downs of hitting the town.

The production for Rolling began as band member Pierre’s remix of Hermitude’s Ukiyo back in 2015, before it was combined with lead vocalist Madeleine’s lyrics for a song that spoke about her past as a partygoer. Both halves of the song were missing the other - when they’ve been brought together, they capture the feeling of taking one shot too many - something a lot of people have experienced. If you’ve regretted not drinking more water after coming home from a bar, then this one’s for you.

Speaking about the track, Madeleine says Rolling captures the feelings of going a bit too hard on a night out. “This song is about those times when you maybe drank too much and woke up in your shoes without much memory of the night before. Sometimes it's fun but sometimes you just take it that little bit too far."

The trio have been sparsely releasing music since 2018 - sticking to releasing a single a year, but after a year of house hunting and PhDs, they’re finally ready to share more of their musical vision with the world. They’ve played with the likes of Northeast Party House, Odette and E^ST over the past couple of years, and have established themselves as fan favourites on Australian live stages - and those two years spent gigging have given them the chance to get their sound to where they want it to be.
