Monday Sessions - 21st of June

Meghna, smol fish, Oh My My and Health Club. Photos supplied.

Gee. Big news day to start off the week. Go spend time with those that have worked in the music industry, especially with those with stories to tell that they haven’t been able to before. Go read this incredible article from Sose Fuamoli on the topic of today’s announcement, as she says it better than I ever could: The Australian Music Industry Can’t Afford To Waste This #MeToo Moment.

On a positive note, I was able to write about 4 Australian artists that I’m really enjoying at the moment. Music in Australia is in a great place right now. It’s time for the music industry to be reflective of the voices that are creating, rather than people in legacy positions being protected by those around them.

Article Of The Session: Meghna’s Eerie ‘In My DNA’ Will Stay With You Long After It’s Finished

As soon as I heard Meghna’s In My DNA, I was instantly sucked into her world. It’s a track that contains a universe within its lyrics. I really don’t want to spoil it anymore than that - just go listen to it, and you’ll see what I mean.

Smol Fish Are More Sweet Than Sour On ‘Like A Lemon’

I’m going to bet that you’ll find Perth quartet smol fish’s Like A Lemon extremely charming. For me, this is the perfect example of a track that radiates positivity. Hard not to smile while listening to this.

Oh My My Capture The Magic Of The Night Out On ‘Make Me Feel Alive’

Haven’t been out on the town in a while? Give Oh My My’s Make Me Feel Alive a listen. This one has been stuck in my brain from the moment I first heard it, and I can’t seem to shake it. Thankfully, I’m alright with that.

Health Club Wants You To ‘Have It Like That’

Meanjin/Brisbane producer Health Club understands what we want to hear during winter. Have It Like That is the musical equivalent of a roaring fireplace, and it’ll keep you warmer than any blanket could.

If you’re interested, check out my Spotifynds playlist below. I’ve updated it with all the tracks I’ve written about over the last week, so see if you’re digging any of the tracks!
